Page One - starting a blog of the sport I love.

Hello, good day to you readers. I have been planning to write a blog about volleyball in the City of Mati. I now finally got the guts and time to do it. Mati, as you may all know is located on the east part of Mindanao Island, belonging to region XI along with the other cities and municipalities. I've lived here my whole life and I call this city my home. Mati is perfect for those who love outdoor sports since it is mostly sunny weather here, though when it rains, it pours. Since I was young, I have been very interested in volleyball. I see my parent's relatives and cousins play this sport at a vacant lot near our house almost everyday after school. I would play with them too if I had the chance. It's just very unfortunate that the vacant lot we used to play the sport was soon converted into a flower farm, and the school where i went to only focuses on academy excellence and not sports. Volleyball was put aside to make way for academic prowess. Only until college that I was able to join actively in playing the sport, because in high school, I have the very honorable position of a "waterboy" and a "bencher" - bench player that is. I usually don't get to play. But in college, I was able to smash the ball with all my strength and vent out all my frustrations in high school. Now, my love for the sport has never waned, though age has caught up with my joints. I'm not saying that I'm that old. it's just that I don't play volleyball like I used to anymore. So for the love of the sport I am making this blog to lift volleyball to the eyes of the people of Mati. Volleyball has always been second best to basketball, and whenever there are tournaments, basketball is always the highlight. Mati, have a lot of talented individuals that can compete and make Mati proud. there are a lot of talents just waiting to be discovered too, all it need is a little coaxing. A few years back, politicians brought volleyball to the limelight when they held a tournament for the barangays. Also, there is this "Project Olympkids" where kids are taught the basics, rules, "how to and how not to" of volleyball awakening their interest in the sport. But sadly "Project Olympkids" ended up after the politician who implemented it was sacked in the elections. The Inter-Barangay Volleyball tournaments however was adopted by the Sangguniang Kabataan (youth council) and is played by its youth members every summer. I have heard that Mati City have an active volleyball club that runs the business of everything about the sport, but unfortunately I have not datas to input in their behalf. I will soon research on that. I will also post here the accredited officials of the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) and also, I will be  posting here those young athletes/students/individuals that may shine in this sport here in Mati. Let us also not forget our veterans (sorry for the term), they are responsible for bringing volleyball into the pedestal in which it is standing on now.
